Social Media Penetrating into HR strategies

Bangalore: HR functions mainly deals with recruiting, training and staffing. Now a day's modern HR's are acquiring the social media strategy for their benefits to fulfill their functions with better efficiency. Social media provides a perfect platform for the HR's to use these online communities, to help in recruiting efforts in less time, saves the costs involved in hiring talents and also increases the internal awareness. The social media not only helps in Influencing the corporate culture which is indeed a difficult task but also support the open communication too.
The survey released by Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) states that 68% of their respondents say the companies they work with are using social media for external communications and for marketing or recruiting purposes. The SHRM survey also tells that 40% of organizations have a formal social media policy and more than half (56%) of the policies include verbiage about the organization's right to monitor social media usage among employees.
Some of the data points founded by the surveys are; 1. Only 28% of organizations have a comprehensive social media strategy, larger organizations and those with multinational locations are more likely to have a social media strategy than smaller employers and those with U.S.-based operations 2. 43% of organizations rely on their HR departments to create the social media policy and 44% say that HR also enforces these policies and 3. 21% use social analytics or reporting tools to measure ROI for their social media efforts.
The penetration of social media into the youth is helping the HR's to take the organization into a whole new strategic level.
